- Archimedes: Inventor of the lever, buoyancy, and founder of the Eureka Vacuum Cleaner
Company.
- Aristotle: Famous professor at Lyceum U., endless list of publications, granted tenure
in 330 B.C.
- Amedeo Avogadro: Inhaled various gases to determine that for a given volume they all contained
the same number of particles. Died a happy man.
- Noam Chomsky: Developed the theory of Universal Grammar, whereby all human language
descended from a single Gramma, who he dubbed "Bubbi."
- Francis Crick: Received the Nobel Prize along with James Watson for discovering curly
fries.
- Marie Curie: Overachiever who cooked, cleaned, discovered radium, and raised a Nobel
Prize-winning daughter, but who never forgot how to make a good pierogi.
- Charles Darwin: Traveled on the research vessel The Bagel to investigate the evolution
of native island cuisines. Wrote The Origin of Spices and The Descent of
Spam.
- Leonardo da Vinci: Scientist, engineer, musician, architect, sculptor, painter, inventor.
He probably made a mean chili, too.
- Enrico Fermi: Nuclear physicist who worked on the Manhattan Style Clam Chowder Project.
When asked later to explain why he was involved in such an endeavor, he
replied, "I'm lactose intolerant."
- Rosalind Franklin: Due to her lack of a Y chromosome, never received credit for her work
on the structure of DNA. Her long hours in the lab made her an expert in
quick microwaveable meals.
- Sigmund Freud: Famous psychologist who documented first case of banana envy. It has been
reputed that he himself suffered from severe melon-choly.
- Galileo Galilei: One of the few eminent scientists with whom nearly everyone is on a first
name basis, he studied the pendulum as a method of perfectly timing his
soft-boiled eggs.
- Thomas Gunter: A man of superlative talent, a genius in the field of bioenergetics, kind
and generous to his students, oh, and, uh...Genevieve's advisor.
- Caroline Herschel: Discovered 8 comets and wrote a catalog of known stars which was state
of the art for the time (1798). Her assistance to her better known brother
included baking sweets to sustain him during his nightly observations.
- Peter Lennie: Jim's advisor: part-time administrator, lecturer, C programmer and physiology
researcher.
- Margaret Mead: Founder of modern anthropology. Her book Blackberry Winter was a best-seller
among fruit enthusiasts.
- Dmitry Ivanovitch Mendeleyev: Invented the periodic table of the elements, a precursor of the food pyramid.
- Roger Penrose: World-class physicist who has shifted his focus to intelligence.

- Erwin Schrodinger: Famous surfer physicist who always knew where to catch the best waves.
- Johannes Van der Waals: Nobel Prize winning Dutch physicist who modified the gas law to take into
account the action of beans on the intestinal tract.
- James Watson: Accidentally discovered the structure of DNA while calling "Bell come
here, I need you."
- James Watt: His improvements to the steam engine's efficiency resulted in better production
of Chinese dumplings.
- Winnie the Pooh: A famous naturalist, Pooh chose for his dissertation to study the ins
and outs of honey bees, small pigs, and stuffed donkeys.
- Hideki Yukawa: Japanese physicist who won the Nobel Prize for his study of the strong
nuclear force. His theories were formulated while eating Japanese sticky
rice (and drinking large amounts of sake).
