Jim's mother, Gayle, learned this painfully sweet recipe from someone in her dorm at Drexel in 1962. Only once since have we seen it made by another person Ð but she and I made it hundreds of times during my childhood. |

| 1 1/2 c sugar 2 T melted butter 1 egg 1 c milk 2 c flour 2 t baking powder 1 c brown sugar 4 T butter cinnamon |
Cream sugar and melted butter, add egg. Add milk alternately with a mixture of the flour and baking powder. Spread in greased 7x11 pan (There is evidence that if you use the wrong size pan it fails). Sprinkle with brown sugar, break butter up into a few dozen blobs and sprinkle it on. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon. Bake at 425 for 25-30 minutes. |
